I envy you sir, and stellar of you to be so forthcoming.  No I did not walk her as the broker was dealing with you and there was no need as it tuned out.

Photographs can make boats look a lot better.  I hope you have no major trouble getting her set for Tahiti.  Maybe I will see you there.  I hope to get back to Thailand myself but first things first.

I did not see the posting of a Newporter due to age and health.  I will look for it.  Do you remember where you saw it?

I am stoked for you and if I see you in the future I hope it will be on some quiet bay on a glimmering Cloud.

HEY there SOTO,

The Cloud is in need of MUCH TLC.  Not sure if you walked her,  But she sat unattended for two years on the napa river.

She had a pretty long list of needs in the deal I made ( still does )  but I have  covered the open wood and stopped any further damage for the winter.

I returned back to Honolulu last week and we are shopping for a slip for her as we will sail her over in the Spring after some weeks of prep and taking electronics from my previous boat.

Im also looking at making our sails,  The sails n Cloud are just ok,  but they will get me to Hawaii if I take it easy.

Regarding the price.  Id rather stay away from that one sir,  We had a few rounds of offer/counter and seller held some ground.  But it is a buyers market out there so I started low as I de expect the guy that wants to by my boat now for sale will do.  In the end Im pleased for what we paid,  but cash talks these days.

44,5  is a big number for near 55 yr old boat,  She would need to be in a  really bristol state in every way including sails and electronics in my humble opinion at that price.

Did you see the posting of a Newporter owner wanting to sell due to age/ or health,  but didn't list a price,  sounds like they were not sure how to price it.. might be one to track down.

Anyway,  Yes we are stoked to be the new owners and cant wait to get here here to Honolulu ad haul her and make her shine,  then sail the islands extensively before heading to Tahiti.

Aloha

p.s.,  that great pic of Cloud on the river with the sun shade is great , thanks,  that sun shade is ripped to shreds now and she is not so fresh,  pic a few yrs. old,  ( but she will be back I promise )

Paul,

congratulations, it is a bit jealous i be sir.  i was right behind you looking at Pink Cloud but your deal was pending. I am  still looking.  I sure am anxious to know (but if it is inappropriate never mind) the broker said PC went for close to the asking price.  Is it real close or just kinda close?  Even at the asking price it looks like a steal.  The boat I am looking at now has a $44,500.00 asking price.  I want to make an offer but I am unsure of where to come in at.  Can you fill me in on any issues or the condition of PC so I can attempt a comparison, please?  I want to be a Newporter 40 captain too.

THE ROSTER

Muf, our Keeper of the Roster, has updated it.  But he still needs information on boats out there that he doesn't have, like new owners, old owners, where any of the boats are.  We don't post the roster on the web site, it is only sent to owners.  Please send him anything you might have, or call him at:

The Ning site has been given a reprieve.   I have  transferred my Ning site to the blogspot site and will leave it there. I am keeping my Ning site open as a home for my photos and drawings.

Many of my photos there do not relate to Newporters, but a search through my collection may prove useful for your studies.

My drawings are not accurate in many respects as a result of the PAINT program used to draw them, There is no accurate scale and at best they are only useful to indicate some specific detail.  Some are inaccurate because of my poor memory.  Use them to help you think, not as a detailed presentation of the subject matter.

If any of you want to start a web site I suggest you remember what has happened to both my Ning site and this site (which is a Ning site) and remember that my Blogspot site is free and Blogspot's owner (Google) has promised to keep it that way.
