#9 Ready to change hands

Hi all, I'm posting to report that Sirenuse (hull #9) is going up for sale. I moved ashore in November to get married, and now my work is moving me to Jacksonville for three years. It just doesn't make sense to bring Sirenuse with me from Washington, so I'm going to give her up. Please spread the word to any friends who are interested in joining the Newporter family.

Main mast rebuild

Hi all!

I told Bob months ago that I would post the details of my main mast rebuild as I go, and am finally carrying through on that promise. I just posted several photos of the process, but also have a ton of close ups of the mast before I pulled it apart. They might be good for anyone looking to do a similar project who doesn't want to get to the rebuild process having forgotten where each hardware fixture goes.

This project started because, like my mizzen, water had…

Mast Repair on Sirenuse #9

Well I sure am glad this site is here. It sounds like there is some good experience working with wood here, which I'd like to tap into. I have started working on my mizzen mast and am dealing with several worrying issues. Moisture got under the fiberglass, causing massive delamination of the fiberglass and spots of rot on the surface of the wood 4-5 inches across each. Even worse, the moisture caused the glue to release around the top third of the mast. The spots of rots I think I licked--I dug… Continue

THE ROSTER

Muf, our Keeper of the Roster, has updated it.  But he still needs information on boats out there that he doesn't have, like new owners, old owners, where any of the boats are.  We don't post the roster on the web site, it is only sent to owners.  Please send him anything you might have, or call him at:

Captain Clyde's Newporter  sites:

newporters.blogspot.com

and

newporter.ning.com

The Ning site has been given a reprieve.   I have  transferred my Ning site to the blogspot site and will leave it there. I am keeping my Ning site open as a home for my photos and drawings.

Many of my photos there do not relate to Newporters, but a search through my collection may prove useful for your studies.

My drawings are not accurate in many respects as a result of the PAINT program used to draw them, There is no accurate scale and at best they are only useful to indicate some specific detail.  Some are inaccurate because of my poor memory.  Use them to help you think, not as a detailed presentation of the subject matter.

If any of you want to start a web site I suggest you remember what has happened to both my Ning site and this site (which is a Ning site) and remember that my Blogspot site is free and Blogspot's owner (Google) has promised to keep it that way.

Put 'Newporter' on Subject Line.  Email is the best way to contact me.  I do not regularly look at this site or its messaging system.  Email will get to me post-haste.
