HELLO HANS - GLAD TO KNOW YOUR STILL ALIVE!!! Where are you anchored these days?
Hey Greg as well - since we have so many battery and Perko discussions I thought you might appreciate my progress over the last three weeks - probably 30 or 40 hours a week - and no matter how well defined the project might have been it always ballooned. Anyway, I finally got my fundamental electrical system wiring finished yesterday, (as well as my new fuel line with pump and filtration, and my engine cranked right up. Unfortunately there was a VERY LOUD slap click noise which turned out to be a bent push rod. HEY, CAN WE SAY SOMETHGING GOOD ABOUT ALABAMA - yes we can - drove 15 minutes to Russel Tractor parts and picked up 4 used pushed rods from a 172 ford diesel tractor engine (which is what the actual "Osco" engine that is in my boat (Osco took the fords engine and "marinized" it). Replaced the obviously bent push rod, reset tappet clearence, and wallaah. However I think I hear one other bent one - will replace next week.
Anyway, as you might notice the electrical system is in the back of the new helmstation that has taken the place of the back window of the pilot house - should have exterior shots shortly. But it is worth noting that the Perko, the ignition, the voltage regulator, and the starter relay are all right there on the left together, with the battery bank right down below (will ventilate batteries).
In the center (between the "firewalls" of backer boards) the hydraulic steering pump and hoses go,and the copper tube is the oil pressure line for the instrument dash. On the right is Blue Sea fuse blocks and terminal strips for 24 circuits, 12 or which are toggled up above in the helmstation instrument dash.
HOPE TO BRING IT UP RIVER FOR THE BIG HULL JOB IN A COUPLE OF MORE WEEKS!

THE ROSTER

Muf, our Keeper of the Roster, has updated it.  But he still needs information on boats out there that he doesn't have, like new owners, old owners, where any of the boats are.  We don't post the roster on the web site, it is only sent to owners.  Please send him anything you might have, or call him at:

Captain Clyde's Newporter  sites:

newporters.blogspot.com

and

newporter.ning.com

The Ning site has been given a reprieve.   I have  transferred my Ning site to the blogspot site and will leave it there. I am keeping my Ning site open as a home for my photos and drawings.

Many of my photos there do not relate to Newporters, but a search through my collection may prove useful for your studies.

My drawings are not accurate in many respects as a result of the PAINT program used to draw them, There is no accurate scale and at best they are only useful to indicate some specific detail.  Some are inaccurate because of my poor memory.  Use them to help you think, not as a detailed presentation of the subject matter.

If any of you want to start a web site I suggest you remember what has happened to both my Ning site and this site (which is a Ning site) and remember that my Blogspot site is free and Blogspot's owner (Google) has promised to keep it that way.

Put 'Newporter' on Subject Line.  Email is the best way to contact me.  I do not regularly look at this site or its messaging system.  Email will get to me post-haste.
