NOTE: there were differences between west coast boats and east coast boats. I have heard or seen that the west coast boats used iron for keel with a six foot draft, while the east coast boats used lead and drew 4' 11" (as shown on first data sheet above with mast heights). So considering the Newporter seems to have had some changes as it moved from west to east (see history forum) I would be cautious about blindly accepting measurements - ie mast heights for instance.

like i mentiioned, i got some good archieves - will post some cool articles, like "voyage of the black swan" in a few days. These are general shots, but they are a hell of a lot better than nothing when trying to get insight in how these boats are constructed
It is wonderful information and hard to come by. Did all this come with your boat? We have nothing with our's although alot of people have helped fill in the gaps and have given wonderful information on Newporters.
yes, it all came with the boat. At first i didn't really appreciate it, but as i got into my boat i found it invaluable. That is really a large part of why i wanted to start this site - thing get lost, especially in my world. and there was no site for all these boats which i expect will be around for a long time. so now lots of people will have the info., and hopefully for a few years we will have it here in one place. I have a few Newporter Eagles as well. Won't that be fun - seeing if we can assemble a complete set of Eagles! I don't know,... the whole thing just seems like a cool project worth sharing. i love a vacuum!
All that information is wonderful and yes very rare and hard to come by. I had the Eagles newsletters but I lost them in the storm too. I really miss just thumbing thru them and they did had alot of information.

The Ning site has been given a reprieve.   I have  transferred my Ning site to the blogspot site and will leave it there. I am keeping my Ning site open as a home for my photos and drawings.

Many of my photos there do not relate to Newporters, but a search through my collection may prove useful for your studies.

My drawings are not accurate in many respects as a result of the PAINT program used to draw them, There is no accurate scale and at best they are only useful to indicate some specific detail.  Some are inaccurate because of my poor memory.  Use them to help you think, not as a detailed presentation of the subject matter.

If any of you want to start a web site I suggest you remember what has happened to both my Ning site and this site (which is a Ning site) and remember that my Blogspot site is free and Blogspot's owner (Google) has promised to keep it that way.
