Prettying up SoNice

Had the starter pulled and rebuilt on Godzilla, our nickname for the huge green Waukesha diesel. It had been weak for a while - we thought it was more of a power issue for a bit which resulted in improved wiring and a massive battery bank. Then, with strong batteries and solid wiring it was still being pitiful. So now it's all better.

I also pulled the windlass off to be rebuilt. Still need to rewire for it though - there's no power getting to it, but power run directly to it wasn't making it run. They rewound it and repacked the gears.

The last several weeks, we've been stripping the handrails and accents on much of the boat, sanding and building up layer upon layer of varnish. I've been going over the deck patching anything that looks like a weak spot, and painting.

She's looking gorgeous!

There's more work to do, but we'll have photo updates shortly and there's a big sail planned for Memorial Day. I think we're gonna have a dozen or so people on board for the day.
