There is clearly no fooling that Clyde or Bob !

Yes, our Pink Cloud is still getting good attention at the fine Baja Naval yard in Ensenada.  SO,  we enjoyed an afternoon sail on a plastic bottle,  A 1989 Catalina 42 our friend bought some years ago in Marina Del Ray , Ca.  and cruised to the same yard in Mexico where our boat is.  Then he had a nice cruise out here ( 17 days) from san Diego.

We thought Sunday afternoon  pics of sailing off Diamond Head, Oahu would be enjoyable and acceptable.  Meant for the gang who tirelessly work on their Newporters with the dream of maybe someday enjoying this amazing afternoon sail ....  ON their Newporter,  As we will be doing on ours in the next few months.  Please excuse the discretion on the newporter site.   I will now contact / share with the Catalina 42 site,  thank you.

Bob and Paul:  I studied that photo and that doesn't look like a Newporter to me.  Everything looks like molded fiberglass, that almost vertical backstay (if that is what it is) indicates a masthead further aft than any Newporter of any rig.  What got my attention was that self-tailing top action sheet winch there.  I've never had one of those in my hand but would have them on my boat.  So, Paul, is that a Newporter?

wow - I just realizde how extensive your cockpit modifications were - and they look really great - the finish on them is sterling. Blows my mind that you could conceive of that. One thing you can say about Newporterrs -they lend themselves to modifications. I myself am ready to declare "THE NEWPORTER REVIVAL" !

THE ROSTER

Muf, our Keeper of the Roster, has updated it.  But he still needs information on boats out there that he doesn't have, like new owners, old owners, where any of the boats are.  We don't post the roster on the web site, it is only sent to owners.  Please send him anything you might have, or call him at:

Captain Clyde's Newporter  sites:

newporters.blogspot.com

and

newporter.ning.com

The Ning site has been given a reprieve.   I have  transferred my Ning site to the blogspot site and will leave it there. I am keeping my Ning site open as a home for my photos and drawings.

Many of my photos there do not relate to Newporters, but a search through my collection may prove useful for your studies.

My drawings are not accurate in many respects as a result of the PAINT program used to draw them, There is no accurate scale and at best they are only useful to indicate some specific detail.  Some are inaccurate because of my poor memory.  Use them to help you think, not as a detailed presentation of the subject matter.

If any of you want to start a web site I suggest you remember what has happened to both my Ning site and this site (which is a Ning site) and remember that my Blogspot site is free and Blogspot's owner (Google) has promised to keep it that way.

Put 'Newporter' on Subject Line.  Email is the best way to contact me.  I do not regularly look at this site or its messaging system.  Email will get to me post-haste.
