HULL # 46 CONVERTED TO CENTER COCKPIT

Appears they got rid off the big steering quadrant as well. I emailed them asking for modification details- and the broker sent me this site address. www.rainbowyachts.com Hull number is 46. Broker also said she woould forward my request for info and let the owners know abot this site. By the way, how did you get interested in Newporters?

Anyone have a comment about the fact this boat is still a ketch rig? How did they do that?

Ok one more and then I'll shut up. Look at where the water line is on this boat. Must be at least 6 inches below normal. The bow chain ( someone know what that is called) is in the water almost. You kow that it has to leak some. Just my option but there is enough place for water to seep in without adding another.

these photos came from tracking down a boat in your last trivia search. If I remember right it is hull 46 and is for sail in hawaii - check out www.rainbowyachts.com Technically I think it would now be a yawl, because the mast mizzen mast is behind the helmstation. The accomplished that by simply doing away with most of the pilot house, turning that space into the center cockpit, and it appears they added an aft cabin. I don't think the waterline is really different, probably just painted different, ie optical illusion.

I think it's still a ketch--technically, I think as long as the mizzen is forward of the rudder it's still a ketch. A beauty though.

The Ning site has been given a reprieve. I have transferred my Ning site to the blogspot site and will leave it there. I am keeping my Ning site open as a home for my photos and drawings.
Many of my photos there do not relate to Newporters, but a search through my collection may prove useful for your studies.
My drawings are not accurate in many respects as a result of the PAINT program used to draw them, There is no accurate scale and at best they are only useful to indicate some specific detail. Some are inaccurate because of my poor memory. Use them to help you think, not as a detailed presentation of the subject matter.
If any of you want to start a web site I suggest you remember what has happened to both my Ning site and this site (which is a Ning site) and remember that my Blogspot site is free and Blogspot's owner (Google) has promised to keep it that way.
