Unbelieveably, the weather made me do it. I have gotten the whole new rebuilt deck glassed for winter!!yeehaw! Of course, they are in no way finished, but by gosh they are waterproof.

I don't know what I am going to use. I am much better at structure than cosmetics. I will definitely have to do a non skid deck (after I sand out the boundaries of various layers of fiberglass, etc. Still have finish coat of resin, at a minimum to go. But I didn't want to sweat winter rain and snow - so, actually, I feel better about the project than I ever have. There are no more suprises, no take this fiberglass off, and oh god, here I go again. I have a friend who is good at cosmetics, and he is going to help - sand - I believe we are going to use real sand. My winter project is the chine and random gussets that have not been replaced, along with a stacked bulwark. I appreciate you guys, and wish you were not so far away, so I could aggravate Jasper - or at least do a little carpentry with him.
I am also really excited that Chas stumbled on the site. Did I say stumbled? That was what I was doing after a litytle wisdon on Bowen island.
Well done, Bob!
I envy you those smooth, new decks! I sanded ours forever before repainting with non-skid and it still didn't stick. What will you use for non-skid? I tried Brightside with the synthetic sand added and didn't like the result--too hard to get the roller-marks out so it always looked patchy and now it looks patchy with white bits showing through. Next time, the grinder!

THE ROSTER
Muf, our Keeper of the Roster, has updated it. But he still needs information on boats out there that he doesn't have, like new owners, old owners, where any of the boats are. We don't post the roster on the web site, it is only sent to owners. Please send him anything you might have, or call him at:

Captain Clyde's Newporter sites:
and
The Ning site has been given a reprieve. I have transferred my Ning site to the blogspot site and will leave it there. I am keeping my Ning site open as a home for my photos and drawings.
Many of my photos there do not relate to Newporters, but a search through my collection may prove useful for your studies.
My drawings are not accurate in many respects as a result of the PAINT program used to draw them, There is no accurate scale and at best they are only useful to indicate some specific detail. Some are inaccurate because of my poor memory. Use them to help you think, not as a detailed presentation of the subject matter.
If any of you want to start a web site I suggest you remember what has happened to both my Ning site and this site (which is a Ning site) and remember that my Blogspot site is free and Blogspot's owner (Google) has promised to keep it that way.
Clyde's email:
Put 'Newporter' on Subject Line. Email is the best way to contact me. I do not regularly look at this site or its messaging system. Email will get to me post-haste.
