a beautiful boat should sail forever.

The system I am using to make lights or other loads work from either helm station (see diagram) requires "single pole/double throw" switches, which go from one circuit on/off to another on/off - described as "on-on". So note in the diagram that the terminals sticking out of the Carling switch are numbered in order. If all the "pins" are there it goes 8,1,2,3, down left side and 7,4,5,6 down right. How many pins are there depend on the type of switch.
Pins 7 and 8 are negative and for the illumination LEDs. The switch on the left is an on off switch using only two pins (besides the led pin). PIN NUMBER 2 SEEMS TO ALWAYS BE THE POSITIVE POWER CONNECTION. Pin three goes to the load, so switching the button (actuator) connects 2 and 3 to complete the circuit. It would be a single pole single throw switch (SPST).
The switch on the right has added pin 1, so now when the actuator is pushed pin 3 is disconnected and pin 1 is connected, ie "on-on" - one circuit is turned off and another on simultaneously.
One last unnecessary complication, in my case. The actuator (rocker arm on top) has three position for this switch "on-off-on", when all I really needed was a two position activator "on-on", so I just skip across position 2 (off). POSSIBLE CORRECTION: 5/31/2022 WHILE I EXPLAIN IN THIS POST MY THOUGHTS THAT I GOT A BAD SWITCH, IT MAY BE THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW AN ON-OFF-ON SWITCH WORKS - SO ANYWAY, WHEN ENCOUNTERIING ONE OF MY BAD SWTCHES THREE YEARS LATER I JUST REPLACED IT WITH AN ON-ON AND EVERYTHING WORKED FINE. THE ROSTER

Muf, our Keeper of the Roster, has updated it.  But he still needs information on boats out there that he doesn't have, like new owners, old owners, where any of the boats are.  We don't post the roster on the web site, it is only sent to owners.  Please send him anything you might have, or call him at:

Captain Clyde's Newporter  sites:

and

newporter.ning.com

The Ning site has been given a reprieve.   I have  transferred my Ning site to the blogspot site and will leave it there. I am keeping my Ning site open as a home for my photos and drawings.

Many of my photos there do not relate to Newporters, but a search through my collection may prove useful for your studies.

My drawings are not accurate in many respects as a result of the PAINT program used to draw them, There is no accurate scale and at best they are only useful to indicate some specific detail.  Some are inaccurate because of my poor memory.  Use them to help you think, not as a detailed presentation of the subject matter.

If any of you want to start a web site I suggest you remember what has happened to both my Ning site and this site (which is a Ning site) and remember that my Blogspot site is free and Blogspot's owner (Google) has promised to keep it that way.
