a beautiful boat should sail forever.

So you have laid out everything by dividing the circle with your compass into 6, and then 12 parts, and center punched 12 holes on the 6" radius (for a 5" opening the cover plate is 7")
AND... YOU HAVE CLAMPED THE TOP plate AND THE BOTTOM plate FROM WHICH THE SEMI'S ARE CUT LATER. REGARDLESS OF HOW WELL YOU DID ON LAYOUT FROM NOW ON NOTHING MUST CHANGE BETWEEN THE PLATES. "UP" SURFACES MUST REMAIN UP SURFACES. SAME HOLES MUST REMAIN on top of SAME HOLES (which I am in the process of drilling) When you have to move a clamp you add another before you loosen the first one. When I clamp these two plates together I put them in the vise and file two reference marks, a one mark and a two mark. The one mark is visible in this shot. I have already marked "up" on both surfaces. IF ANYTHING CHANGES FROM THIS POINT ON YOU ARE SCREWED!!!!!! I almost did not post any of this information because you really have to keep your mind on what you are doing, although operationally it is easy. Also, the drill for the first run is 13/64", the tap drill for 1/4" holes. After the plates are separated I will drill the top plate with 1/4" bit,........ and thread the bottom plate after the semicircles are cut out.

I noticed yesterday that Vetus has a fuel tank port for about $80.

THE ROSTER

Muf, our Keeper of the Roster, has updated it.  But he still needs information on boats out there that he doesn't have, like new owners, old owners, where any of the boats are.  We don't post the roster on the web site, it is only sent to owners.  Please send him anything you might have, or call him at:

Captain Clyde's Newporter  sites:

newporters.blogspot.com

and

newporter.ning.com

The Ning site has been given a reprieve.   I have  transferred my Ning site to the blogspot site and will leave it there. I am keeping my Ning site open as a home for my photos and drawings.

Many of my photos there do not relate to Newporters, but a search through my collection may prove useful for your studies.

My drawings are not accurate in many respects as a result of the PAINT program used to draw them, There is no accurate scale and at best they are only useful to indicate some specific detail.  Some are inaccurate because of my poor memory.  Use them to help you think, not as a detailed presentation of the subject matter.

If any of you want to start a web site I suggest you remember what has happened to both my Ning site and this site (which is a Ning site) and remember that my Blogspot site is free and Blogspot's owner (Google) has promised to keep it that way.

Put 'Newporter' on Subject Line.  Email is the best way to contact me.  I do not regularly look at this site or its messaging system.  Email will get to me post-haste.
