a beautiful boat should sail forever.

FIRST LET ME SAY I AM NOT AN ELECTRICIAN, AND DO NOT KNOW CODE. THIS IS JUST THE SYSTEM I ARRIVED AT, AND I IN NO WAY ENDORSE THIS AS THE PROPER WAY TO DO IT!!
So here is my dual helm hardware - not quite what I expected. Starting from right, going to left, fuse block, carling SPDT "ON-ON" switch, bus bar,
LEAVE HELM VIA TWO TRAVELERS, GET TO SECOND HELM, second helm traveler bus bar, spdt toggle switch (OR CARLING SPDT), another bus bar, and finally a pump just as an example of the load (probably a bad example since it is an impeller pump and could destroy the impeller if not manually or automatically monitored for water level.)
In my mind, you don't want the travelers between the helms to be connected directly into the switch terminals, so when you leave or enter a helm you do it via a good bus bar anchor. That's why the power supply end only has one bus bar (you only leave) , while the load end has two bus bars - because you enter and leave.
Assuming you have significant power at either helm, you have the option to decide for each dual station circuit which helm you want so supply the power, and which helm you want near the load. For instance for my masthead tricolor I will have the upper helm be power source and lower helm, because it is closer, be the load end. On the other hand, for my power nav lights, I will supply power from lower helm and let upper helm be the load end because it is closer and more convenient to three of the four lights.

THE ROSTER

Muf, our Keeper of the Roster, has updated it.  But he still needs information on boats out there that he doesn't have, like new owners, old owners, where any of the boats are.  We don't post the roster on the web site, it is only sent to owners.  Please send him anything you might have, or call him at:

Captain Clyde's Newporter  sites:

newporters.blogspot.com

and

newporter.ning.com

The Ning site has been given a reprieve.   I have  transferred my Ning site to the blogspot site and will leave it there. I am keeping my Ning site open as a home for my photos and drawings.

Many of my photos there do not relate to Newporters, but a search through my collection may prove useful for your studies.

My drawings are not accurate in many respects as a result of the PAINT program used to draw them, There is no accurate scale and at best they are only useful to indicate some specific detail.  Some are inaccurate because of my poor memory.  Use them to help you think, not as a detailed presentation of the subject matter.

If any of you want to start a web site I suggest you remember what has happened to both my Ning site and this site (which is a Ning site) and remember that my Blogspot site is free and Blogspot's owner (Google) has promised to keep it that way.

Put 'Newporter' on Subject Line.  Email is the best way to contact me.  I do not regularly look at this site or its messaging system.  Email will get to me post-haste.
