ANODE PLUG

I might add that the anode, given that the heat exchanger is copper, needs to be changed, or at least checked on a regular basis. I read it should be magnesium for fresh water and zinc for salt water. The plug itself is brass, so it deteriorates pretty quickly since it is in contact with copper. Mine broke off so I will have to drill the nut out and retap. You can google marine heat exchanger anodes, and a lot will pop up.
