So there are two companies involved in getting a new motor: Western Motors Services, who produced the original and is still producing the motor (W7003) for Ideal Windlass, even though Ideal Windlass is now owned by Schaefer Marine. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE IDEAL WINDLASS IS NOT THE SAME AS BACK IN 1968. NEITHER THE BOYS AT SCHAEFER NOR THE WESTERN MOTOR SERVICES HAVE INFORMATION ABOUT THAT OLD WINDLASS THAT IS SUCH A BEAST!!!!!
FURTHERMORE THE NEW WINDLASS'S ARE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT, SO THE W7003 IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. FORTUNATELY THE DIFFERENCE APPEARS TO BE ONLY A BUSHING THAT SERVES AS A SPACER IN THE MOTOR CASING.
