The legend and his better half, Captain Clyde and Mary

In early June I visited Captain Clyde, and we went for a sail on the A J Meerwald on the Maurice River. The east end of the Maurice River dumps into the Delaware Bay, where the A J Meerwald dragged for oysters over a century ago. In the 1950's Captain Clyde was Captain of this schooner (at 19), and it was actually named the “Clyde Phillips” Right up the river from where we boarded at Bivalve is the Dorchester shipyard, where my Newporter was built, and probably rigged by Captain Clyde himself in the mid sixties.
